The science surrounding repeated head impacts in sports can be confusing and is often misinterpreted. The headlines don’t tell the whole story, and more information is often needed to understand what the science really means. It can be challenging for parents to make sense of all of the conflicting information out there and make the best decision for their child. It can be equally as challenging for health care providers to know how to answer the questions these parents have.

My Mission

My mission is to explain the science and counter the myths in an easy-to-understand way for those who want to learn more about repetitive brain trauma and concussions in sports.

Did you know…

  • It’s not all about concussions. Concussions are serious injuries, but repeated hits to the head that don’t cause symptoms can damage the brain, too.

  • Research has shown that the young, developing brain is vulnerable to worse outcomes and lasting consequences from concussions and repeated head impacts.

  • You don’t have to lose consciousness to have a concussion.
